i was re-adjusting my vinyl decks, and ran into a few problems/questions.
hope someone here can help me/point me to the right direction

i found the tone arm height adjustment dial is stuck. it looks like the
tone arm lock knob does not unlock the tone arm base. any info as to how to
fix this? will i need to open it up from the bottom to get to the tone arm
base mounting?

also, on a cartridge i have, the left channel seems to generate higher level
than the right one. some way to fix this mechanically (i.e., without having
to replace the cart)? i am using ortofon concorde nc e.

finally, i am thinking of adding a cd player (or two). i am partial to
pioneer cdj700, but i guess it's an old model now. any significant
advantage to the newer models with all that extra features? i mostly
beatmatch, some looping, and sampling, not into scratching and prefer to use
external effects modules ("cd scratching" seems absurd to me, but to each
his/her own, i guess).

i used google to search past posts, but didn't have much luck. hopefully
someone here can help (are andre and jtmixer still around here?) thanx,
