BIOGRAPHIES

OLIVER HO

Following the success of initial releases on London's reputable
Blueprint
label, Oliver Ho has firmly established himself as one of the world's
most
creative electronic producers. His own Meta imprint continues to
develop a
personal outlook and individual vision of music, and frequent DJ
appearances
in both the UK and abroad enable Oliver to take his powerful, textural
rhythms directly into the clubs, enhanced further by live drum machine
and
sampler interaction.

Having explored a more organic direction with Meta, Oliver's second
label,
Light and Dark, navigates the area between rhythmic music and ambient,
tonal
sound. Each release is a fusion of abstract elements, far more
experimental
then Meta. Lastly, his third and most recent project, entitled Exist,
embraces a different philosophy altogether. Each release is intended as
a
platform upon which various mediums can be explored. The first was a
compilation of alternative music by various techno artists. Future
releases
are planned in the forms of films, books, CD-ROMs and special, one-off
events.

KATE SIMKO

Kate Simko is a classically trained pianist and composer who later
expanded
into jazz and electronic music production. Some of her past projects
have
included film scores, written and improvised compositions, as well as
live
piano and electronic music shows. Combining her musical training with
her
love for underground music, Kate is continually exploring a dialogue
between
the classical tradition and underground music -- her two strongest
musical
influences. During college she studied Music Technology at Northwestern
University, which exposed her to vintage hardware such as the Moog
Modular
and Arp 2600 as well as advanced software, including Logic Audio,
Max/MSP,
and early Native Instruments packages.

Kate released an album on Traum in 2003 as Detalles, with Chilean
producer
Andres Bucci. Her piano composition "Rhodes Relejadas" was remixed by
Thomas
Brinkman and also released on Traum in 2004. Her upcoming work includes
remixes for Philip Glass and Rebecca Gates, as well as a new Detalles
EP.
In addition, Kate has her first solo record in the works. Throughout
her
career, she has received national and international press in
publications
such as the LA Times, e/i magazine, New City, Citysearch Chicago, The
Wire,
URB, de:Bug and XLR8R and has performed beside artists such as Michael
Mayer, M83, Four Tet, Ellen Allien and Ulrich Schnauss.

WILLIAM SELMAN

Warmdesk is the project of chicago-based producer William Selman. The
sound
of Warmdesk has evolved from his earliest work of musique concrete and
skewed rhythms into combining these elements into stripped-down minimal
techno. Still present are the dubby textures and samples from everyday
life,
but now they coexist with smooth chords and rhythmic grooves. Warmdesk
has
released material on several labels, including Deluxe, Bip-Hop, Static
Caravan and Fallt. He released the "Guero Variations" CD for the
well-regarded Deluxe label (home of Electric Birds, Blechtum from
Blechdom,
and Matmos's early endeavors). The record is composed almost completely
with
sounds from the piano without actually playing the keys and, according
to
the Portland Mercury's Dave Segal, "makes musique concrete detritus
shimmy
and shake with glee." The album made it into several critics' top lists
for
records of 2003.

Selman has also released 12"s on Andy Vaz's Background Records'
sublabel A
Touch of Class -- records that featured more dancefloor-friendly cuts
which
quickly found their way into sets by DJs like Steve Bug. Currently in
the
works are more releases for A Touch of Class and Background, as well as
a
collaboration of dancefloor cut-and-paste with Forte/Neuton artist
Matthew
Mercer called 2400W.
