So we all know by now, that I have been around abit - have three children, and five grandchildren - only the three oldest are able to go out to bars and so on. Here is my question to show my age and lack of ever being out to anything for the younger crowds. Would I be looked at or thrown out of one of these places if I were to go, would I be welcome? I still end up getting some odd looks when people can hear some of the music I play in my car, many seem to think its not acceptable for me to listen to younger things, I just go on my merry way.

To be honest, I haven't seen old ones going to such places. But I have seen some middle age men who are still dressed in office attires that come to bars and clubs.

I think you can still go to those places, it's your right to go anywhere you like. Make sure you just wear the right clothing and if its possible, go with your children for they will be the one to support you when something comes up.

My children and grandchildren love the idea of taking me out to new places. We have always had a tight knit type family, so there is nothing we don't do. Beach, movies and so on. And don't worry, I don't dress like most in my age group. Not that I run around in jeans anymore or hiphuggers but I don't go with that entire wear everything the same color and have the big poofy type curled hair like some do, I really don't understand that at all!

Go anywhere you would like to go, and who cares if some youngsters have a problem with it?

You have a right to go anywhere you choose, and tough luck for the whiners.

In my opinion, nobody gets old. Other people just born earlier than the others. Everyone always wanted to have fun might be young or old. So I guess young ones don't have the right to have fun for themselves only, its for everyone. So whatever age you are, as long as its the right age already, you could enjoy going to bars.

I've never had an issue hanging out with people my parents age or older. Then again I am a very repecting person by parentage. I wouldn't dream of disrespecting someone older unless they showed they had no respect for me at all. If you are comfortable going to a place younger people hang out then go for it. However if you would rather hear music from an older era and dance in a respectable manner the local bar might not be the palce for you. However the local VFW or Moose Lodge might be. As a WOTM member I can tell you that there are many different ages that mingle and enjoy eac others company. When we have dinner dances we normally listen to older music and listen to tales of back when. ..

I think any person has a right to choose the music they want to listen to and their age ( after a certain level of maturity is developed ) shouldn't have any bearing on their taste. If you like a style , then it doesn't matter who thinks what's correct for you ; it's your choice. As for some youngsters giving those looks , just ignore them.

What the penguin said is right (why did that just make me think back to Batman?).

I don't care what others think of me when I listen to whatever I am at the time being, its not like I blast the car radio so loud that every car around me can hear it, and I try to keep it fairly decent at my home when its the weekends, but its my choice, not theirs, don't let others stop you from doing what you like!
