Bad experiences at a gig?

Bad experiences at a gig? Have you ever had any and if so, what was it?

One of mine: I came to gig and some people had questionmarks above their heads. Apparentely someone from the organsation forgot to cancel me. So I travelled some 2 hours just to be told to get lost without getting paid...

After some debat however, I finally got some refunds, but my night out was totally blown, which is a pity as I was really in the mood. Haven't worked with those guys ever since...

Talking

oh maaaan, i got a nice story 4 ya:

a loong time ago (actually it was in 2001) in my very beginnings i played at a school-event...mmh...letīs say 500 peeps or somethinī like that. and as the night got later, and the people got crazier, and drunker the floor was bouncinī until a drunken guy pulled out the power plug. no lights, no sound, the room was dark, and people started to scream...anyway after a 5sec-break someone was able to plug it in again (whoever you are: thanks to you guy, god bless you!) and party continued.

definetly one of the worst deejay-experiences iīve ever had...but somethin like that never happend again. (letīs knock on wood)

but there was also a positive thing about it:
the people immediatley started to scream as the sound came back again!

That sucks bigtime. Luckily it didn't last that long.

I still remember the second day of our club-opening which was on a Saturday. Major promotion had been done, a big act had been booked and the first day was already very promising.
Somewhere around 9.30 pm, the first DJ had just played one or two records, the whole club went black, except for the emergency lighting. In fact, the whole town went black!! No streetlights, no nothing.
So we just sat there in the candlelight-and-emergency-lighting atmosphere, trying to figure out what was wrong and what could be done about the situation. We had to throw out all guests because of safety-reasons (instructions from the cops) and couldn't let anyone in.
A call to the electricity-provider revealed the evil source: one of the main power-stations had a failure and they couldn't tell when it would be able to get back online. They said something about "half an hour"...

So we waited... (10.pm)

and waited... (11.pm)

and waited... (11.30 pm)

and waited... (midnight)

We were just about debating whether or not we should cancel the whole thing, or at least cancel the main-act, because we were not allowed to have visitors. Our spirits were really at the rock-bottom. We had to send every guest away! We just decided to wait another desperate 10 minutes, when with an audible *click* the power went up again. I have never seen so many people call their friends and within reasonable time, it turned out to be quite the party as a whole bunch of people had some catching up to do.

All in all it really a great party, though we were left with a bitter taste. Ahhh well, who said that a club-opening always runs smoothly.

Cheerio

I hate drunk people with beer in their hands, especially if they want to give it to you in an act of kindness while pouring at least half the glass over the records or mixer.
They usually have the tendency to make the needle jump as well...
