Club music is dying...... RIP ????
I know that this is going to be a local issue i.e. Ireland & UK but the
change in the music in clubs over the last 6 - 12 months has been horrendous. R'n'B is slowly taking over in all of the major clubs that i havce been to. most bars are now looking for R'n'b and most of the DJ's i have talked to say that they get the most requests for R'n'B. I would just like to get other peoples perceptions of how the music scene is changing in their area or maybe its just ion my local. i know that the local f**king radio www.highlandradio.com which is a real redneck station is mostly responsilbe for the downturn in music quality. the latest song that they have been playing is Dolly Parton 9 - 5 dance remix. Because of this i now have people coming up to me in the middle of a bouncing trance / hard house set and request this load of shit. sorry for ranting but i just have to get this off my chest as i am so disgusted at the current trend in cheesey / r'n'b rubbish that is dominating radio and charts. so my question, is this just a trend in my area or is it more widespread???? |

Suu? You're ranting on about cheesy R&B, but face the fact that many dance tunes of recent days are just the same old same old. And the public realise that, they get fed up with having the same stuff continuously - it's part of club/disco life that music has phases that it goes through, Your job (if being a DJ is your job) is to make people dance to what they want to - and not to ram your preferred style of music down their throats and diss their musical preferences just becasue they're different to yours. Your attitide sucks. Either play for the people paying for you to entertain them, or do the oether thing. But I'm sure there are other venues where music more palitable to your tastes is still the mainstay. If not, find a smaller venue and create a niche market. Yeah, you're right. It does come back to personal taste. Luckily this, like
every other trend, will pass. I don't dislike RnB, I just prefer to play stuff that is faster. There is a much better energy in a room once you get over the 115-120 field. But I am a commercial DJ and have to play what the punters want and will continue to do so. The other alternative is to go niche in an area that hasn't got the market or become a brickies labourer and that aint gunna happen ![]() DP <BJtheDJ@the.Controls> wrote in message news:2qfclvcqru88so5jvoo97m4vkdc09lan4t@news-text.blueyonder.co.uk... > On Thu, 4 Sep 2003 01:35:16 +1000, "d parker" > <daveparker@optusnet(nospam).com.au> wrote: > > >Its global buddy.
