I finally saw an ad in our newspaper for a club needing dj's.
I have been stuck in the bedroom for about the last 3 years and feel I
am talented enough to spin in a club. I am going to apply this tuesday
and am wondering if anybody has an advice on what the expect when
applying for a club gig.
Thanks in advance

dood.... you need to try and find out exactlly what the club is after......
then if/when you get an audition make sure that you can supply exactlly what
they want.....
you could maybe try asking the manager the following:-
what happened to the other dj??? (quit or sacked)
if he was sacked then why???
was it the music he was playing???
what do you want from your dj???
i honestly think that your best bet would be to approach the manager in
person..... its more proffesional
anyways..... good luck

hello jason,

there are a few things you might want to think about before your first
audition at a club. dj recess has written a great text about playing at
clubs for the first time. have a look at his website
http://www.recess.co.uk/start.html
and the most important thing:
stay polite, honest and cool. this will already make you different from
90% of the (wannabe-)djs outthere. enjoy your first gig and don't get
discouraged if somethings go wrong. we are always our most critial
listeners.
have fun
roger

My advice would be to go to the club a few times before the audition to
get a feel for the atmosphere, punters, etc. Try and find out as much as
you can about the music policy as well - hard trance wouldn't go well at a
chill out bar! ;-)
Good luck - make sure you tell us how it went!
