I was perusing Ebay the other day and saw a couple DJ accessory kits for sale used, due to the owner upgrading. I was wondering what the possible benefits/issues are with buying used DJ stuff. Have any of you bought equipment from a total stranger, either online or in person?

I have, but it wasn't music equip. I would check out all there is to know about the product, any booboos on it, etc. And talk with the owner if possible. I have never gotten anything from someone online with an amazing selling record (no complaints, etc.) Also see if you can find a used store that may have the same equip at a better price, or with a warranty you can purchase, might save you some hassle in the end.

Personally, I would stay away from buying used electronics online, simply because there is not much guarantee. It's a little better on Ebay, where you get to leave feedback, and ebay will also refund your money if necessary. If you decide to buy on Ebay, make sure youget the seller's word in an email, guaranting that it will work or be returned.

I agree that you really are taking a risk, but it's the same with anything that you buy online. Often, electronic equipment can be repaired by a shop if needs be, unless the item has been toasted, so as long as you are not paying too much for it, I think you should be ok.

Reconditioned things in order to be sold are very normal nowadays. They would just make sure the product will run for presentation or even for a matter of months. But when it will be used regularly then the problem will come out.

Better saved up money and buy a new one rather than trying your luck on used equipments. With new ones you are sure they work well and you also get warranty for it when its been damaged.

I haven't tried shopping in Ebay yet. But my hubby tried buying an electronic stuff online. And they met in the sellers place.

Maybe you can ask for a warranty to make sure of the performance of what you are buying. I know there are really some sellers that are offering a warranty. Others give their warranty receipt so that you will be the one to claim if something happens to the items you bought.

If the price is right and the item is still usable then go for it. Its more practical to use something worth the price. But if you are to buy something used and its not working, then it defeats the purpose! :)

I always try to check out who I am buying from first, last thing you want is a flop. Maybe also look around to see the prices new and used on other sites before using eBay, sometimes if you hunt around you can find things cheaper and in better condition!

Exactly what fred said, don't buy the first thing that you have seen in the internet. Try to search more for the same product in the internet and you might get a better deal. Though its not easy to detect the genuine products that are working, you could have an agreement that if it doesn't work, you will get your money back.
