For those who don't know what a Mod is, it's a digital music format which was first created in the late 80's. Later on, formats such as .XM and .IT came along, expanding the capabilities of Mod. To this day, there are still a number of communities devoted to digital music formats like these. So, who here listens to Mod music besides myself?

Actually...I have heard quite a good bit of Mod music, but I haven't listened to it nearly enough lately. That will have to change :)

There was a period of time I was even considering make some .IT tracks, and trying to enter some contests that Trax In Space were holding.

It sounds interesting enough, but I have never heard about it either. Now I am curious and need to research and check it out.

I was told that Mod Music is from back further than the 80's. From Wiki it states "Mod (also known as Modernism) is a subculture that originated in London in the late 1950s and peaked in the early to mid 1960s. Elements include music, fashion, dancing and scooters."

Are we talking about the same thing, or did the music just come out later than the first part of Mod since it seems split up a little?

I've never even heard of it. We're talking format, not genre. so what's it got on other formats, as in mp3? Unless I'm really off the mark here?

I think I have heard a little Mod music while at a friends once. Besides that, I can't really comment much srry :(

There certainly seems to be a large following for it online though.

I am new to this and interested to know how it sounds. I did a search with the phrase "Mod music" on youtube and came up with some videos. One of them is this one : http://youtube.com/watch?v=z2QvfQC98Ss Don't know for sure but I guess you were referring to something similar.

I am not sure if that is Mod music or not. I think they were saying it was music for the Homeworld modification, which is like an unofficial add-on to the game.

Either way, it's a good piece music all the same.
