These guys aren't really "hip hop". But I'm curious to know what people think about these rock groups that incorporate rap. I was listening to this album from Critical Bill that came out today. It's pretty good. It's called "Downtown The World". It has that rap/rock sound of like a Linkin Park type group. You can hear some of their stuff on their myspace page, (myspace.com/criticalbillmusic). I like their sound, but what do other hip hop heads really think about it? Like it?

I know its not exactly what you are talking about, but without a *rock* band incorporating a lil rap into their music, the genre never would have had a chance. You can thank Blondie for it becoming popular.

I would have to disagree with MC Pretty here. Most Rap/Rock groups suffer from the same problems, and don't really draw from the best parts of Hip Hop. But instead they try to focus on the stereotypical or down-right crappy aspects. The worst of the bunch being Limp Bizkit. Sorry, but any band with an over reliance on tough guy bravado is just really stupid.

I actually like musical groups that incorporate both rap and hip-hop. It's a unique style that you hardly hear.

I just like it when anyone can mix two or three things into one. I love when people are creative, I come from a creative back round and I am more interested in those willing to take a chance for something new. And on the Blondie note, I love her, not many can say that with the ups and downs she has went through, but I don't think I will ever get some of her songs out of my head.

I like the blend when it feels like one song.If it sounds like two tracks from different genres churned together ,it won't fly, but yes, I'd give him credit for trying to innovate.I guess this is how new genres are invented and accepted.

I like it in some bands, they mix them well. Others I'm like "ummm, go take some pills and make another album, thanks!"

Its a talent I think to merge 2 different genres in one. I like Limp Bizkit for doing both rap and rock at the same time. LinkinPark did a great job mixing rap and rock as well. With this new group, I just wish them best of luck.
