Hello gang, this is peaches. Good nickname I have had since a child from my father, no idea how he came up with it, or why it stuck after so long, but you know - stuff happens. :) I am happy to have found a site that I can get aquainted with new music, I love all styles, and I used to be a dancer. No, not the kind you are thinking of, I actually used to compete in dancing. My children have always tortured me with new styles of music, so I figure in my older age I should just get used to it, if you cant beat em join em, right? Hope to learn alot here!

I say, tastes like sweet nickname. Welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy participating in the forums.
Anyway, what kind of music are you dancing to? I presume ballroom for you said you used to compete. But correct me if I'm wrong.

I come from the era of "teeny boopers" if that tells you anything. :) Swing is something I am still trying to get my waist wanting to do, and its been years since I have competed, however most of the stuff was just for fun, I belong to a VFW and we sometimes hold events to raise money for charities, nothing real big that anyone would have seen I don't think. My grand children are the reason I need to expand my musical knowledge, they keep telling me all these new groups and I just want to keep up. Don't want to be an old grandma.

Cool grandma! Have you considered going into clubs where there are loud sounds and where there is a DJ playing the music? Also, you might want to see movies that are dance related like "You Got Served" and "Save The Last Dance". Not only will you be entertained but you might want to try the moves that they are doing. Just try not to breakdance for it might break your bones. :D

I have seen Save The Last Dance, but not the other. I don't visit many clubs, but I have in my time. To make things short, one of my girls became a "dancer", so being her mom, I wanted to check out where she worked, this was in the 80' though and I'm sure the music has changed, but yes, I have managed to get into a couple of clubs in my time. :) I am fairly certain at this time in my life, I will not be breaking out anything, expect maybe some Tylenol during cold winter days and nights. :) If you have any more advice, I would love to hear it, I am open to learning just about anything and I think thats why my family is so supportive of me even from time to time when they make fun of this olé lady too, lucky I know its just family razz. And for being my age, I am still in good shape, even after three children and a couple of broken ribs from years ago.

Funny thing, Peaches, is that there's a great artist called "Peaches" too. You should check her out sometime. One of my favorites by her is a collaboration she did with Karen O, whom I believe was the lead singer of The Yeah Yeah Yeah's, which is an older band that you might be more familiar with. The song, is called "Backass." Never know, you might like it. =) Welcome to the forum.
