Do you play foreign music even though you don't understand the lyrics?

Filipino youth love to listen to them: Spanish, Mexican, Korean, or Japanese songs as long as the tune is good. Asereje and Macarena are just a few of the Spanish songs that we listen and most of the time accompanied by a dance steps. Korean TV series have Korean soundtrack in them so teenager girls tend to sing them without even knowing what it means. And Japanese games have Japanese music backgrounds that players would play while in the game.

How about you, do you play any foreign music?

Definitely. I grew up listening to Spanish and French music since we had to emmorize it for class and/or sing it as part of our grade. It was considered a great way to make learning fun, lol. I still listen to plenty of game based songs as well as Italian opera. They can add alot of depth when used for mixing as they sound very exotic.

I like to use Indian music in mixes. They have really exotic instruments that sounds really nice when mixed with other music properly. They make really good loops as well.

When stuffabunny said about Italian, I remembered Josh Groban. He was of American decent but could sing Italian songs very well. I just wish I could be like him who can sing songs in different language.

Indian music is really erotic. I'm not sure why they do it that way.

My favourite foreign music was always Greek and Turkish for the club scene. Greek club music (Thalassa type stuff) has the most amazing beat to it-I was never much one for dancing till I started clubbing in Greece. It'll get most crowds going.

Some of my favorite music is in other languages actually.The music itself should be what matters, not what language it's in.Any language can be beautiful, and can transcend barriers.

Even if you can't understand it, so what? Good music is universal.

Well there can be some issues with the lack of understanding. I once fell in love with some Greek music-it was wonderful. I was working at a Greek restaurant at the time and learning Greek as I went.

Well, as I started learning I started understanding what was being sung. Imagine my horror when I found that my favourite song was all about a whore house, and a dude saying how his blood was boiling and would you go with him to the whore house tonight! I was shocked and a little upset.

If you don't mind taking the risk then all is good.

That's a pretty funny story, although I can relate somewhat. Even with English lyrics I sometimes hear the words wrong, and I end up not liking the REAL words. Nothing about no whore houses though! :spimpin:

It's ok, you're not the first person to have laughed at me for that one-my boss in particular found it hilarious as the look of realisation spread across my face when we were listening to it as he gave us all a ride home. Through his half funny Greek accent he was laughing; "You get it right, you get it!".

I have had problems with English songs too, thinking that the singer was talking about the nighties when it was the nineties and other such. I didn't have a problem disliking the real words, but I did have trouble forgetting the wrong words.

I do play foreign music too. I love the tune and I do not understand the lyrics. :D What I love about asereje is that it is a lively song and the girls are really pretty.:) peace MUSIKERO*

I agree with you my friend. The girls in Asereje music video are absolutely adorable. I just wished one of them is my girlfriend. And when they sing and dance the chorus, they really have graceful bodies.
