I am at my wits end for dealing with spam from sites when I am looking for new places to find information. How is everyone dealing with spy ware, it seems I have to scan my computer and get rid of all the cookies. If I were to disable them, that would mess up the sites I want to go to that are good. Its such a pain, and driving me insane.

I run Ad-Aware from time to time if needed. It is free, and you can search for it online, its made by Lavasoft. Also, you can try trendmicros free scan (alot of computer techs at local computer shops use this instead of purchasing something) from their website.

I use a combo of things, but Ad Aware by Lavasoft and Trendmicro's HouseCall are awesome. I also do a full scan once a week since I visit a lot of odd sites.
Also most browsers let you block pop-up's at the very least.

Yeah, it is really a great deal... I tried to run some free spyware and some are free to try but sometimes if your going to uninstall them the file is already corrupted. I cannot take them out anymore to my system. And the worst thing is they make my computer slow because of always showing up when I start my computer, it bugs me. Sometimes I called them, protector becomes predator...

We use Ad Aware by lavasoft and Spybot Search and Destroy to keep it to a minimum. I also use Firefox as a browser with the Adblock Addon to help keep the ads off my pages. If you can't see them, you can't mouse-over them and get pop-unders or popups. The filterset is updated constantly and has gotten rid of almost everything I used to pickup when I used IE7.

You know, you can turn that option off right? Check in the settings, and make sure it is unchecked to run after boot sequence. :)

I just run Ad-Aware and Spybot: Search and Destroy. As for my Anti-Virus thinger, I just use AVG. They work fine for me. When I have a virus I just go on the net and remove it manually. It's a good challenge - and it's fun. :)

Thanks foolgurl! I'll do that... It was really nice to be in this forum. I know I will learn a lot from here.
Breakout, can you still please let us know more about your spyware and anti-virus so that we might also learn and able to use what you are using right now?
I think the problem with free anti-virus softwares is that their virus database is not complete so they won't detect the really hard-to-catch viruses. I suggest to use anti-virus programs with annual fees like Kaspersky because they can really protect your computer from harm. Anyway just think of the money you are spending like an insurance payment.
