I am in the process of archiving my GIGANTIC vinyl collection. It is
composed of club hits and underground releases since 1995 till now
mostly in Progressive Trance, Hard and Acid Trance, and some House and
Techno.
The vinyl is lifted digitally off of Numark TTXs via SPDI/F Digital
Link, using brand new Stanton Trackmaster II needles, played at ZERO
(original speed) contolled by built-in Qartz clock, and recorded into
Sound Blaster Audigy 2. Again, this is performed via digital link (the
latest Numarks have digital out)
Once sampled, the tracks are Normalized and Encoded at 256kbit 44.1kHz
(constant bitrate/stereo), and appropriately tagged (including the
catalog number). The final archive is catalogued based on Record
Label, then Release Catalog #, and finally Artist and LP Title, as
well as individual track names and mixes.
I am looking for someone who has done some archiving as well (or is
interested in archiving a collection), in hopes of exchanging some
releases from our archives for backup purposes. Please make sure your
archives are up to my standards.
