Rap is very popular these days, even if I dislike many of the current popular rappers out there at the moment.
The thing I am wondering is what attracts you to a particular rapper?
Is it the lyrics, the rhyming, the beats, or something else?
For me it's a combination of meaningful lyrics, rhyming, and a good beat.

I am absolutely entranced by rappers who can talk fast and ennunciate theit words to still be understood. A good beat and meaningful lyrics are icing on the cake at that point. Old school rap battles were only done using a microphone and a generic beat loop, so anything more is simply icing on the cake.

Lyrics and beat are my two must haves in rap. Rhyming isn't necessary as its very hard and I'd rather they wrote their own lyrics tham rhyme. Not being overdressed with bling is also nice so I don't feel gansta when I buy their album in a store.
If the song has no meaning behind it, I cant really handle that type of stuff. It just seems like jibber jabber to me.

A good rapper must have a good rhyme, in my opinion. Many rappers are losing this ability in creating their own songs. This is the reason why I'm more into the old raps than the new ones.
