DN-2500fsound problem

I have a problem with my DN-2500f. After a while the sound of left side
drive sounds like if the source has been recorded with too high level, some
kind of distortion noise (hard to describe). The same discs (a couple of
CD-Rs) do sound perfectly right on the right side drive.
Any idea what that could be? Is it worth to repair or is the unit to old?
The unit hasn't been used very much though, it has been a demo example in a
store so the reseller says.

I had the same problem two years ago. The lens was dirty (try the Denon
AMC 22 Pickup-Cleaner) and it was incorrectly adjusted (you have to send
it to Denon or go to the Store where you bought it).

Sorry for my english.

Yeah...laser misalignment....makes me debate whether or not to return the thing
to actually get repairs...or put that money into a new unit. Even if i did
repair it i'm not too sure how much i could get back for selling it...

Re: DN-2500fsound problem

i'm sure there was a recall on some 2500's a few years ago, over a fault
where the left deck paused itself intermittently for 2 seconds and then
unpaused... anybody remember that?

i have 2600's by the way and have never had a problem, i'm now looking at
the 9000f, is it worth upgrading to?

Re: DN-2500fsound problem

depends...if you're into the rackmountable cd controller/cd player unit...then
any new models are good. but i wish they would make Pioneer-CDJ-700s-sized
model of a CD player w/ the same features as a Denon DN-5000 or 3000 or a
Pioner CDJ-1000MK2 or CDJ-800. I actually have uses for the features on those
but I don't need the size that those things have. The features are practical,
but the size is not. And I own both Pioneer and Denon and probably wouldn't go
with another brand name.

Re: DN-2500fsound problem

To hell with Denon.
I bought their first unit in 1993, the DN 2000, which was okay.

Then, I bought the 2500, the biggest piece of crap ever! It started freezing up
on me at parties.
I will NEVER buya Denon again.

Believe it or not, the Numark CDN-88 blows every Denon out of the water. I've
had it for 2 years now, and it's given me nothing but professional service.
Never had a prob! It also has many more bells & whistles than lame-ass Denon!

you were unlucky. Very rarely see a faulty one of these for software issues.
Damaged drawers - yes - software - no.

you are very lucky - seen several of these in a year. Dead power supplied.
Dead LPU's, corrupt software and loads of problems with joints on the
assemblies.

The bastards never contacted me about a recall. And I register every piece of
equipment as soon as I open the box.\

Then when I called in '01 to inquire about it (a friend mentioned it to me),
the customer service rep played stupid.

Screw DENON!
I shall forever bad-mouth them!
