Does the music have to be original to be good?

As the years go on in music, true innovations become fewer and farther in between. While many good new artists are around, most are content following the leaders.

Personally I find nothing really wrong with that, although I wish more people would try to find their own path. Even still, I am pretty content with the electronic music scene at the moment.

How about the rest of you?

I agree with you, there should be more fresh tracks in the world. I like hearing music that is new to me but these days most music sounds the same. Some music even use beats or background music from the time my parents were kids. Music is good these days but I wish people were more original.

Perhaps people have just become complacent with what is already written or song but I believe there is still a lot of music left to be discovered.

I pretty much agree that unique is better. The more you just follow the formula the more hum drum it becomes, and you end up not being able to tell one artist or album from the next.

Rap has always sampled old tracks way past their prime top 40 status. While many new ways to do things are yet to be had, for many its easier to just follow the leader as they care more about money and fame than the music.

Many music today are just revival or remix of the past songs. Its nice to reminisce the old songs but it is better if its played by the original singer. Originality is really hard to find nowadays, even artists of today are pirating the songs of past music.

If someone can take something I love or don't and make it even better, then I am all for it. I do think people need their own path, but music of all types does repeat through history, so many different people can have the same style, but be influenced by so many different from the past. Its a little tricky.

Good music will always be repeated in a different beat but it will still have the same message. It doesn't have to be original for a music to be beautiful. But it is better to listen to a new song that has really good quality.
