Hi to All,

Emo-rock is very popular among youths today. But I see it as something very cheesy and melodramatic. It sends depressive emotions to our teens. Others tend to commit suicide pointing to the music as the very culprit.What do you think of this music genre?

I don't like EMO-ROCK. It is maybe because I am not a teen anymore. I think it's just okay that EMO-ROCK is now present. Music genres really evolve. It is up to our youths if they do not know how they control their emotions.

I think I would have to hear it to make a better stance, but from the sound of it, it would be a waste of time. I get sharing your feelings, but when you are a constant emo freak, it tends to pull others down too, and I dont see the point in doing that.

I hate the stuff!

It's shallow mindless garbage in a way that can only be compared to Pop-Punk.

Now I have nothing against depressive or suicidal music, as long as it's sincere and deeper than "MY GIRLFRIEND LEFT ME BOOHOO!"

Emo is only there to be a fashion thing, with no more substance than that.

It's worth noting that 2 of my favorite kinds of music are Funeral Doom Metal and Suicidal Black Metal. Why do I think they are so much better than that Emo garbage? The aforementioned sincerity behind it, and the fact that it's a form of therapy for me. Also there's generally much more talent involved than in 3 chord guitars with crybaby pansy vocals!

I personally kind of have a love/hate relationship with emo rock. The suicidalness of it depresses me and I have started to lose interest in it but the few good artists who actually use their music to make a statement I like. I agree wish DarkPsyFantatic, metal rocks better.

Emo rock as you term it is definitely not a healthy thing. I tend to avoid it where I can; I don't do too much teen stuff at all so it really isn't a big deal for me. I don't like it though, that's for sure.

I couldn't agree with you more. Anything thats sung by a man wearing eyeliner and more mascara than I am with skinny tight jeans is just revolting. Which makes it just like its anorexic glitter covered evil twin pop-punk. Some things are best left on the shelf. Neither does a thing for today's youth or their fragile emotions.

I just don't like "EMO" music, period. This just makes the youth of today more violent because they don't care about their life if ever they die or not. I'd rather listen to plain hard rock music, at least it keeps me alive.

I'm not sure that it makes people more violent, but yes it really builds the depression. I think that music as a cause of all the crap in the world today is just another excuse after many moons of excuses for the declining standards of behaviour in society.

I don't think emo-rock makes people more violent. Emo really isn't about feeling passionately enough about anything except wearing eyeliner and jeans that look like you've worn them for a week straight. I don't like it much myself, but I do think music influences young people through its lyrics, the artist's beliefs, and the fashions it portrays. Its not the only thing to blame but its lure is mightier than any parental involvement.

Parents still have influence to their children if only they have a strong bond between them. Youth of today tend to find comfort from other things like music if they have nobody to tell about their feelings. But sadly they are taking comfort on the wrong music and even leads them to more depression.
