Essential Tunes List For Wedding DJ
Any of you cats do weddings or private functions? If so, have you
developed a list of 'must have' tunes that usually get most people interested? I've been working on a list of my own (below), but could really use some more guidance. OR does anyone know of some good CD compilations that I could buy in order to kick start this process? I've been doing a lot of homework on my own, but your help would be great. So far I've learned a few things when doing weddings. You gotta have tunes like these: Sinatra Brick House Love Shack YMCA Crocodile Rock White Wedding Celebration Michael Jackson Donna Summer Earth Wind and Fire James Brown Party Train Some great ballads (any suggestions?) Play That Funky Music White Boy Shout Sweet Caroline Oh What a Night Brown Eyed Girl............................. |

My company does all kinds of events. Depending the type of party, you will use a certian type or set of music more often than other types of events. What we have done is develp our own set of 'DJ Tools" with the most played songs on them. For instance, we have volume one and we call it our 'participation; CD... this has YMCA, CHa Cha Slide, Cotton Eyed Joe, Macarena, Eletric Slide, Etc.... Then we have the Wedding CD.. wedding march, cake cutting, etc..... we got the 'disco CD' I Will Survive, DOnna Summer, Jacksons, Etc.... Most of these CDs we use at every party. Your 'party CDs' should reflect the music you know you will be playing often. Each Dj has a set of music that works for them. It varies from DJ to DJ, and the part of the world you are in. I play music that works for me in NEw yourk (Out On Long Island) that would not work in England, and games, activities, and such that would not go over to well either. But in My reigion, they all are must haves... Look around at the other Djs in your area. What are they doing to make them stand out musically.. What works for them ? What works for you ?
