I know it's a frequent request but I need some advices on my "beginner
digital dj" setup. I have experimented with Traktor lately and I feel
the need for some semi-pro gear to improove performances and control
over the software. Please keep in mind that I'm on a relatively tight
buget and that I use an iBook.

I crawled NI forums and misc websites and these are the pieces of
equipment I've came to think I need:

1. external mixer: I have an old 2 channels Numark mixer but it lacks
mix control on the headphones;
2. usb soundcard: Gigaport AG / Audiotrak Maya EX 7;
3. usb/midi controller;

Specifically I'd like to know if you have some experience about using
the Evolution controllers (UC-16, UC-17, UC-33) with Traktor.
I'm very intrested on the UC-33 beacuse of its faders: apparently it
shoud be easy to configure them to control Traktor's pitch faders,
which would be cool rather than controlling them with some buttons.
Additionally with the UC-33

can control virtually all the buttons/knobs/fades of the software
without the need of an analog mixer. Do you think this could be
possible or is it however preferable to have a mixer + a cheaper
controller like the UC-16
