Faulty Denon DN-2000F Mk III

hi all

got a problem with my decks - it's happily playing a CD on the left hand
side and then all of a sudden will start fast-forwarding (as if I've turned
the dial fully right)!!! Trying to pause it won't work - it just literally
takes control of itself and skips merrily along until it reaches the end of
the CD. Turning the power off is the only thing that'll stop it!?

Has anyone else ever encountered this?

Re: Faulty Denon DN-2000F Mk III

I have had this only once in my many Denon DN 2000 Mk3 units that I have had
in for repair.

The sled motor drive IC is controlled via I2C buss, the IDC overheats &
causes the sled to start drifting outwards causing major skipping & the only
way to stop this is to power down the unit and reset the micro.

But inevitably the chip will need replacing, not an easy task due to the
chip being of SMD (surface mounted device).

The only other thing that I have had is faulty spindle motors & OPU's, but
these don't normally cause your symptoms.
