Going rate for a wedding DJ?

Sorry this isn't the most exciting question, but I gotta supplement my
club residency money with some wedding gigs. I live in Boston, MA and
am curious what the going rate is?

If you're asked to do the dinner music, all of the introductions, and
then run the dance floor for the evening, I typically charge at least
$1,000. Is this in the ballpark? I'm not looking to make a killing,
but just charge the appropriate market value.
Thanks

Re: Going rate for a wedding DJ?

I have no idea what the rate is in Boston, but that's about twice the
going rate in Utah. =)

Re: Going rate for a wedding DJ?

$200 buck an hour for an in- city Wedding for New York City. So $1000 for 5
hours seems about right. More for traveling (hamptons , atlantic City, Block
ISland)
