Good and Bad Starts

I would like to hear some stories of the first few times you had started out, what it was like, yes the good and the bad. I am thinking maybe one thing someone has gone through, how it was handled, may end up helping another person.

I showed up once to a wedding to help out a friend and was totally overdressed. She told me it was a formal reception so I wore a simple black dress. Turns out her definition of formal was khakis instead of jeans. I have since learned to ask extensive questions if I'm unsure.

Stuffabunny, I feel your pain, I am sure you were glad to be by yourself playing music, so you didn't have to be mingling with the "formally" dressed people.

Yeah I was, got alot of guys asking for my number though which was really annoying. I mean on one hand I understood as I stuck out in the crowd as "classy" looking, but on the other hand they wouldn't have been there if that wasn't their crowd anyway. Needless to say they got my businss card which doesn't list a number to call.

Hmmm, wickedly awesome by giving your business card without a number in it. I guess you made a terrific music that they asked you for your number. Maybe some of them also wants you to play for them in their own party.

Well, that happens. The good thing is you know how to handle every situation as it comes. You kept your cool and played it well. And for that all's well that ends well.
