Google, Going Down From The Mountain
From the other discussions that I have been too, it seems like Google is on a downward scale. Do you think this is true? What do you think made this thing happen to Google? My answer is simply - greed.

I heard recently that they bought Doubleclick, which only furthers my existing suspicions about what Googles true motives are.
They care nothing about customer privacy, or how happy people are with their service. They just want to make more money any way that they can.

I had started to worry first with their increasing size. It seemed that they were on a mission to take over the world in the style of microsoft or Coca Cola and that was already leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
Then of course came along the double click business and I lost all faith. They only last year went head to head with the government, refusing to hand over info that was requested. And now they going to hold so much MORE info on people-it scares me. |

Any company that has world domination plans scares me. Walmart scares the pants off me, and their mission is only to have a store every 20miles. Google wants to be in charge of every websearch they can. And the doubleclick purchase is way too "big Brother" for my tastes. They need to remember why they became big:a good product/service and stop paying attention to the profit margin as much.

What I don't get (and I'm not alone) is why Microsoft allowed them to win the bidding war at 3.1bil. Microsoft only bid 2bil, but the site is obviously worth more than that with the bid being an estimate of ten times the 300mil/year revenue. I mean if you seriously want to be in the game you have to play it like a big contender. Microsoft has helped sell us down the Google downslide.

In a way, I want to still like Google for creating services such as Adsense and Gmail...but I just cannot simply overlook their sins elsewhere.
While some companies are still worse, Google was a company that was widely respected by almost everyone. Then they pull this crap?

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. They decided they had paid their debt to the techie society and could now do as they please to continue building small fortunes for their employees. Its really sad. I liked Adsense, but I started seeing issues with gmail and their privacy policy. There really isn't much of one.
