Do any of you hire *helpers* for your gigs?

I do some stuff for a friend of my moms when he has a large wedding party. Just wondering if anyone else hired people to train and help them.

Help as in set up chairs and stuff, or help as in help you dj?

Most djs just show up to the gig with their equipment and rock it.

I've worked as a like a server/porter at a function at this convention center. Not a very fun job.

I assume you mean helper/intern as in someone your training to be a dj, or another dj if you have a large gig.

A few of the guys ive dated have had people they have been training, either for a club - so they had their own club dj, or just in general to learn the trade. Unless the club they are working pays them directly, usually they dont get paid. Their pay is that they got to learn a few things.

If I have someone i'm training sometimes I pay them to be there learning, sometimes I don't. Depends on what they are doing for the gig to help me.

If they are just there seeing how I spin, i'll get them in, let them watch, but I'm not paying them to watch me.

If they are there learning and actually spin some, then i'll throw something their way.

I much prefer to listen than help, if you mean help by handing someone something, that I can do, but I know better than attempt anything more than that.
