Hip-Hop
I am/was a mobile DJ in Yuma AZ where my 70, 80, Rock, Country knowledge was
more than enough. Now I am in Phoenix, AZ and find myself woefully unprepared for the Hip-Hop/RAP scene. Could anyone put a list of somewhat clean (I do mostly school's and younger folks party's) artists. I am sorry to be generic, but in the backwoods I left I could play several country songs in a row, here 1 draws complaints so I either need to update or quit I guess. Thanks in advance |

Thanks in advance sorry, I don't have a list of child-friendly hip-hop (not really my scene...but i'm not getting paid regularly for DJing either). I can offer some advice on where to start looking: 1) Video game soundtracks. Make sure the video game is a child-friendly game (No Grand Theft Auto, but definately check out Madden, NFL/NBA Streets, etc) they will give you an idea of what artists to look for. also, the NOW series of CDs was basically made for childrens' ears. (i can't believe i just reccomended those damn NOW cds). 2) Radio Edits. For every popular (top 100+) hip-hop song, there is a radio edit. It might not always be as good as the original, but at least the beat is the same. (of course, i'm not really sure what the standards are for DJing school parties in your area...) How old are the kids at these parties? What subject matter in rap/hip-hop would be considered unacceptable (profanity, sex, drugs, politics, money)? |

Re: Hip-Hop
Here is a better way... take a look at the local radio station websites.
Whatever they are playing you can get through walmart.com. Or one of the other MP3 sites. I get mine from Walmart.com as they are all clean edits always. Re: Hip-Hop
HipHop was never meant to be "clean"

Re: Hip-Hop
I play at high schools, and although the kids probably already have the
"adult" versions of all these songs, the adults who cut my checks would not be pleased to hear me play one. Re: Hip-Hop
My best suggestion is to join iTunes @ itunes.com
Chances are if there is "clean" version, iTunes probaly got it. Eminem, Snoop, etc. Only $.99 each track to. You would have to burn them on to CD to be able to DJ with them though. (they are M4P files or something like that) I burn them onto CD, then from CD to MP3, then I play them with Final Scratch. Re: Hip-Hop
Thanks for all the advice. I have found several of the cleaned up versions.
Walmart Dot Com and itunes were especially good ideas. As for DJ Creaminal, bite me. If you can't help, why not go about your sad little life and leave others alone. This forum is for PROFESSIONAL DJ'S not sarcastic butt munches who have nothing better to do than one-liner folks who need some advice. >HipHop was never meant to be "clean" > >DJ Creaminal |

you and I both know it On Sun, 5 Dec 2004 23:38:14 -0700, "Randy" <randy759@hotmail.com> wrote: >Thanks for all the advice.
