A friend of mine is a DJ, but doesn't have liability insurance. I'm
getting married at a place that requires proof of a $1 mil liability
policy on "all outside vendors." We're trying to work around this,
but it's starting to get expensive.

It seems that American DJ Association offers a 12-month $1 mil
liability policy for $200. I'd be more interested in a single-event
(e.g., one day) policy, and was hoping I could pay more like $50 and
get a 1-day, $1 mil liability policy.

Has anybody ever heard of this? Just a shot in the dark, but I
thought I'd ask. Please respond to this group, rather than email me.

Talk to the place your having your reception. See who their insurance agent
is and see if you can get a rider on their policy for the one night. You
will not find a single company that I know of that will handle a single day
event other then high risk and they will cost you about the same as a year
with any other policy.
You should be able to do business insurance for everything for around $200.
I think my policy covers $1 million plus covers my equipment for $258 USD
for the year.
