This is a very clueless question.

My shiny new Numark Axis 8 has a socket for MIDI.

I am vaguely aware this is to do with triggering drum machines and keyboards.

Could some kind person point me in the direction to exploit this feature?

Is their a website that contains a beginners guide?

Interesting piece of equipment... I've looked around (including Numark's web
site) for information about MIDI implementation... No luck. Here's what I
think. MIDI in/out could be used for something as simple as remote control
(start/stop, volume, and other device control messages). This means that you
can possibly control the device from an external unit like a MIDI keyboard
or sequencer. Conversely, you might be able to send MIDI control signals to
other devices (like drum machines) from this unit.

The other possibility is to send or receive MIDI time clock which could be
used to sync this device to an external drum machine or sequencer... This
sounds too good to be true, unless the so called "Built-in BeatkeeperT with
auto-synchronization" can really make some magic.

You have a pretty cool toy for experimentation... Have fun with it!
