I currently have a Gemini BMP500 and a Pyramid PM-2700... both great
mixers. My have my gemini as my primary mixer. But for some reason
if someone can explain. My audio sounds so distored when its barely
turned up. My gains and eq settings are minimum. But here is the
catch... when I remove the Loop rings and plug directly into the loop
out it sounds so great. It seems like when I loop back into the mixer
for the master output it distorts.. my thoughts were to get a DBX 266
or 166 Compressor/gate/limitor to put into the loop. Does this sound
logical?

Any input is greatly appricated it.

Sounds like the channel you input your mixer to can't handle the
signal. Can you set it to Aux or something like that?
Sounds like you have your signal input to a phono channel

No, sounds like your mixer is probably broken. With the channel setting
at typical levels (eq's in middle, trim in middle 50% of it's range,
channel slider also in middle 50% of it's range.. it sounds fine through
headphones cuing and also sounds fine from looping output.. but awful
from master output? Then it's time to get your mixer fixed or a new
mixer. A compressor won't solve your problem.
