Mixing at home

I'm looking for a really good pair of speakers to use at home for mixing in
my room, currently using a pair of 50w RMS speakers made by Videologic which
I have been really impressed with. Looking for something more powerful to
double up as speakers for home parties, so around 150w+ I guess would be ok,
prefer powered speakers.

Any recommendations.......

re: Mixing at home

I use one of the powered 15" JBL's... They're perfect for a monitor
and can do a pretty decent sized room...

Re: Mixing at home

Price up to £400-500 for a pair
Prefer powered
Portability not that important, but would be nice

Re: Mixing at home

12" Cerwin Vega OR 12" EV aught to do the trick.

Re: Mixing at home

I would go for a set of used EV SX-300's. These speakers are a 12" with
horn design, kick out some serious bass for there size and sound very good.
You should be able to get a good used pair for around £500, possibly a
little more, but it will be worth it. (new price around £999) Of course you
will have to budget for a good amp, but you will not require something very
powerful for home use as these speakers are very sensitive.

The advantage of going fro pro gear like this is that you could take it out
on the road at a later date if you wish.

Regards,

Dan

Give these guys an audition;
http://www.behringer.com/02_products...=B300&lang=eng

At just GBP371 RRP they represent one of the best values around, and
will handle practically any house party that you're likely to throw at them.

Cheers,

Xor
