My neverending saga for a 1-2 RU mixer

I turn to you, my DJ brethren for information on a DJ mixer that does not
exist (to the best of my knowledge).

Here is what I need and the specs:-

1. 1 to 2 RU Mixer
2. (2) Mic inputs
3. (3) Line inputs
4. Headphone Cueing
5. Depth of no more than 3"

Doesn't sound too difficult, but let me tell you, it is IMPOSSIBLE. Here are
the units I have looked at:

Rolls RM-75 http://www.rolls.com/rollsproducts/
Numark RM-6 (Manual not online, but I had it emailed to me from Numark)
RANE MP-2 http://www.rane.com/mp2.html

The Rolls RM-75 is the ONLY unit that does everything I need it to do,
however, even with all volume levels off, I get music bleeding through to my
speakers. To clarify, if I have my CD's spinning, (or MP3's on my laptop)
but the volume on each line completely off, I still have sound coming out my
speakers. I spoke with the lead tech at Rolls and he said the unit should
not do that, and maybe I have too much juice coming into the mixer. How can
I have too much juice if it is just the outs from my laptop? I can turn the
volume down of the sound coming from Line 1 (on-board sound card) but Line 2
comes from my external USB sound device that has no volume control. I do not
have this problem with my current mixer setup.

So, is there some sort of processor I can send the outs of the RM-75
through, before it goes out to my speakers that will eliminate the
bleed-through? Should I try to mess with the volume levels coming from my
laptop as Chris at Rolls suggested?

I am in dire straights if I can't get this working because I have already
spent over $1000 designing the "perfect" new kit for my mobile DJ setup.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you can help.

Tim A.

Re: My neverending saga for a 1-2 RU mixer

if the rolls is what you need then thats the unit for you... if you bought
it new and its under warentee then take it right back and get another one...
or make rolls fix that thing.... "feeding the mixer too much" is a crock
of shite.. but on that note you CAN turn down your USB sound card by using
the windows mixer panel.

the rane is the only quality piece there... u might try coupling the
rane with a 1U line mixer (there are LOTS of those around, from
Behringer to BSS and everyone in between)

no a 1 RU line mixer, e.g. http://www.ashly.com/lx-series.htm

there are LOTS out there, some with a combination of line and
mix level inputs (all though a lot have a pad and sensitivy pot on each
channel so you can do ither)
