I'm still finding my "style" really - I have a mishmash of a lot of different genres on wax, but my taste is gravitating towards house: the jazzy downtempo stuff (like out of San Francisco's Om records), the "filtered, vocal, French" stuff like Daft Punk, deep house (like stuff that comes out of Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi), and I guess what could be called "club" house. I don't know if my tastes are too wild n' off the mark, but I just love how each one sounds. Different vibes, but all good. In general, I piss on naming and classifying genres - but I guess it's a) natural and b) required for any kind of organization. Neonik |

I'm a do it all kind of DJ; and that's cool by me cuz I like pretty much all music. Lately, I do a lot of bars where all they want is current radio (but I use extended versions and mix some funky loops in to keep it interesting and flowing). I'm in the Washington DC area so hip-hop and rap are most in demand. Personally I prefer house, trance, drum-n-bass but there's not a big market for it here, so I tend to do that in the "bedroom" or for small parties. But I also like to toss some Frank Sinatra in at closing time! (Hey, don't diss the chairman!) Music is about moods and attitude and I like to spin the kind of music that either matches the mood & 'tude or creates the mood & 'tude you want. |

Re: Poll - Music Styles
i think the musical style depends where you are and also what kind of crap
they play on the local radio. i live in donegal, ireland and the local station is crap. the dj's play mostly cheese ball trance, mostly re released 80's crap. the other problem the dj's in the station have most of the big local clubs tied up. my preferred style is trance / hard trance and i go outa the way when i play euphoric trancey stuff withoiut the cheese. i have made it my mission in life to try and offer something different yet still likeable. i think trance is coming back in a big way after all the funky house of last year? in trance we trust Mr. T -- =============================================== Paul McGonigle IT Instructor Distance Learning NTDI, Lifford Tel : 1800 200 301 "DJ DJR" <djdave_vaNO@SPAMhotmail.com> wrote in message news:MZESa.2980$mo4.2407@fe01.atl2.webusenet.com.. . > "DJ Jules B." <z3101490@student.unsw.edu.auNOSPAM> wrote: > > > Out of interest, what kind of stuff do people here play? Funky vocal house here been playing it since day 1 but adversly i have
experimented over the years with many other styles, i tend to find some styles are very 'clicky' in the DJ community and certainly some of the PRO DJ's I've bumped into in my time can be a little egotistical ( or is that testical) "DJ Jules B." <z3101490@student.unsw.edu.auNOSPAM> wrote in message news an.2003.07.20.14.47.01.379645.510@student.un sw.edu.auNOSPAM...> Out of interest, what kind of stuff do people here play?
