Powered Speakers: Mackie vs. JBL

I'm considering either the JBL EON G2 or the Mackie SRM-450. Any DJ's
out there use either? I'm a mobile guy and am looking for great sound,
durability and the option to use the speaker as a wedge for
monitoring. Not sure if the Mackie has this capability, but I know the
JBL does.

Also, anyone use the Pioneer CMX-3000 CD deck?
Thanks

I'd recommend considering the ElectroVoice SXA-250 or the FBT line.

Hi first the JBL EON G2 have a really bad sound. They are very muddy
in the mid range. Search for JBL EON here and you will find 100s of
bad responses to these.

Secondly the Mackie SRM-450 are way to trebly and they aslo tend to
thermal out.

If you can afford them buy FBT MaxX series. They are clear in the
midrange good bass response and powerful. I believe they are much
lighter than the Mackies too

By the way I am a professional Trance DJ both nightclubs and mobile
and have used all these speakers many times. FBT rock!

You also mentioned the CMX 3000 cd deck. it's alright. The buttons
are a tad unresponsive as are all pioneer cdj buttons except for the
cdj 1000. If you are starting out i'd consider the AMDJ Proscratch
2. I own both a CMX 3000 and some single American DJ (AMDJ) cd
players. The American DJ ones rock. I have often brought them with
me to nightclubs to use instead of their decks

Re: Powered Speakers: Mackie vs. JBL

Interesting assessment, I have been using the JBL EON G2's for 8 months now
and get complimented everywhere I go by punters and DJs alike for the
tremendous sound I am getting out of such compact speakers.
