Probably are stupid question, but....

I hear of these really famous DJ's, like John Digweed, Tiesto, Ferry
Corsten, Herr & Frau Schmidt, Moshic and others, and I hear them being
played on internet radio (DI, Frisky, you know), and I like their
music... but I don't understand what they really "do."

Are they actually trained as musicians? Like went to a conservatory /
university?

Are they composing their own music? and playing it in clubs and other
venues? If so, are they creating new music with AcidPro or the like?
Or are they "assembling" pre-exisitng compositions in new ways?

Are they just mixing other people's music at live performances?

Apart from the fact that they are famous (and obviously very
talented), what are they doing that's different from DJ's spinning
records in local clubs?

As I said, these are probably stupid questions, but I would really
like to know. Can someone explain this to me? Woodchuck is confused.
Thanks.
