Prodigy

Almost everyones heard of these folks, and they've released tons of high quality material over the years. Unfortunately, their most recent album was a huge let-down. While i've heard worse, for Prodigy it was terrible. The whole thing just sounded very generic, and Prodigy always was unique. But everything they released before that point was amazing. Anyone else here is/was a fan of theirs?

The Prodigy (or just Prodigy)[1] are an English band. Their music consists of various styles ranging from rave, hardcore techno and industrial in the early 1990s to alternative rock and bigbeat with punk vocal elements in later times. The current band members include Liam Howlett (composer/keyboards), Keith Flint (dancer/vocalist) and Maxim (MC/vocalist). Leeroy Thornhill (dancer/very occasional live keyboards) was a member of the band from 1990 to 2000, as well was a female dancer/vocalist called Sharky who left the band during their early period. The Prodigy first emerged on the underground rave scene in the early 1990s, and have since then achieved immense popularity and worldwide renown. Some of their most popular songs include "Charly", "Out of Space", "Smack My Bitch Up", "Voodoo People", "No Good (Start the Dance)", "Breathe" and "Firestarter".

The name changed from "The Prodigy" to "Prodigy" between Music for the Jilted Generation and The Fat of the Land in 1996 and back again with the release of Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned in 2004. This was only done to fit the changing logos, according to Howlett.[1][2]

I used to LOVE them, but when they sold out with Firestarter i felt their music went downhill quickly.

I have most of their older stuff.

I've never bought an album, but I've yet to hear anything by them that I didn't like. I would probably buy some stuff if I had the money to do it. I haven't heard anything recently though, so I'm not sure if I'd really be let down or not.

Prodigy didn't sell out until their current album, just because it's so generic. Fat Of The Land was an amazing album, and almost nothing sounded quite like it.That's why Always Outnumbered was such a huge let-down, it just is lame.

Prodigy's great, although I don't like the new stuff. Hopefully when/if they release a new album, they'll get inspiration back.

I think even I have heard of this group. I am sure they are good at what they do, but their taste is a little to harsh for my interests right now. I might be a rocking gram, but I dont think I rock that loud. They do have good beats though.

I find it funny, I just watched the movie The Condemned and during a fight scene with a UK mate, they are blasting Prodigy. Sounded awesome on the home theater also, but I really thought they could have played something else, maybe something less stereotypical. Then again, maybe its just me too.

Wait, how exactly is Prodigy stereotypical?

A stereotype of what, considering they have such a unique sound?

Well, their newest album isn't very unique...but excluding that. Heck, I am tempted to throw on some Prodigy right now.

I only know them from Big Shiny Tunes 2...but from that song I never thought of them as a DJ type band really...then again...that was only one song.
