Producing professional productions

Hi,

I apologise if this is the wrong group - I cannot work out the best
group to post too with this question.

I am trying to find out how the DJ mix cds are put together, and
whether or not some computer software is used to hold the mixes etc.
Most/all descent mix cds have mixes that are perfectly produced.
While I appreciate the top DJ's are extremely talented, I'm pretty
sure some form of studio is required to produce CD mixes. I am
especially interested in the knowing what software is being used - all
the dj software programs claim to be the best dj software that all the
djs are using...that makes it difficult to make a decision.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Producing professional productions

Often protools, but I generally prefer the ones that are mixed live at a
real gig, which mostly feature two turntables and a mixer, but
occaisionally feature traktor/fs.

If you're looking for DJ friendly software, protools is not it, BTW.
It's used mainly because it is the heart of many of the top studios, for
a couple of reasons: The first is that ProTools was THE standard in the
early and mid-90's -- few other software products existed that could
hold a candle to it. Being first to market is a good thing. Another is
that DigiDesign has done a good job with hardware integration, enabling
great functionality with some of the best hardware controllers on the
market (none of which are anything like a battle mixer).
