Removing music to leave behind just singing
Do you know of any programs that can remove music from the tracks you have
on your hard drive just to leave the singing from the track. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.745 / Virus Database: 497 - Release Date: 27/08/2004 |

You're not the first person to ask that in here and I'll bet next month's pay cheque that you won't be the last. Seriously though, there are a few ideas about how to extract the acapella from a track over at the 'get your bootleg on' message board - http://gybo.proboards4.com/. I seem to remember some very complicated stuff about finding a similar bit of the track without vocals and then reversing the phase and then combining the two to cancel out the unwanted stuff. Personally, I'll stick to buying vinyl with the acapella's pressed onto the b-side - much simpler! Good hunting. |

Re: Removing music to leave behind just singing
I think if you can pull out the vocals with defx then you can pull out the
music. The key I think is if the song is in the correct format. Meaning vocals in the mid and recorded in stereo. Actually, what you would do is get the instrumental and invert the waveform. Then, mix the inverted instrumental over the vocal version and you get an acapella (you must line them up PERFECTLY). Well, MOST of the time. I've had various levels of success with that technique, and most of the time the aca is clean enough to use. JT |
