SENNHEISER HD 25 SP QUESTION
I have a question for Sennheiser HD 25 sp users.
I'm ready to buy a pair mostly for DJ use. Is it possible to remove the one aircup from the headband ? I'd like to use them like single sided phones and keep the other cup as a backup ... P.S. i know the cable is detachable, i'm asking for the cups. Thank you. |

They're light weight, good-sounding headphones. The earcups can just swivel around and detatch from the plastic headband. And since the cables detatch also, you can remove one of the earcups altogether. These headphones aren't as popular as Sennheiser's HD280, but it sounds like for your use, they are a better choice. Re: SENNHEISER HD 25 SP QUESTION
Thanks agan Karl.
Have you tried both HD25 sp and HD 280 ? or better the HD 270 (I own the HD 270 and i know how the HD 280 sounds) If so how do they compare to sound / loudness. I need a less "bassy" pair than the HD 270's > > Nothing else I can think of. They're light weight, good-sounding > headphones. I have been using them for many years and love them. They're definitely less bassy and more true (to my ears) than many others. Anyway, good luck! |

The only think concern me now is if they can go loud enough, (for dj use but not in very -loud- clubs) because sensitivity is about 100db and impedance is 85 Ohm. (The -full- 25's are much better to this aspect 120db / 70 Ohm) How do they (25 sp) compare to others (hd 270 / 280 etc) ? |

Yeah, I have the HD25SP. Haven't ever used the other HD's though...so couldn't tell ya about how they compare to those. Other similar headsets would be the Sony-7506. Those are pretty popular headphones as well. For DJ use, I usually recommend the AKG-240M. Have you tried those? |

In my experience in pro audio retail though, Dj's buy the KM240s like they're water. I'm not a DJ, so I can't say one way or another. To each his own. Maybe you would the AKG-K271 better? They're a closed design. Have you thought about looking into headphones by actual DJ gear manufacturers? Like maybe, NumarK? They have a model with only 1 side too...the D100 or something like that. Anyway, best of luck...let us know what ends up working for you. |

They're built like cheap plastic toys and all it takes is one screwup and they break. I bought a pair of HD500's and the sound was so bad I thought they were defective. I got them replaced and the new ones sounded just as bad. Sennheiser tech support was useless and took over a month just to get a reply. I'll stick with my Koss headphones. Built like a tank and twice as comfortable as Sennheisers. The bass is solid and punchy and the highs are clear with great seperation. |

They're nice sounding...but not 'too nice'. After all, I need to know what the heck is really happening...same reason I use the Genelec monitors. > > I bought a pair of HD500's and the sound was so bad I thought they were > defective. They probably don't get a lot of tech support calls for headphones. ;-) But, I've never listened to or looked at the HD500's...so maybe they suck. No comment here. > > I'll stick with my Koss headphones. Built like a tank and twice as > comfortable as Sennheisers. The bass is solid and punchy and the highs > are clear with great seperation. Really? Koss? See there...that's why there's so many manufacturers and makes and models. Different Strokes... |
