Simple newbie questions

Hello all,
I am looking to get some basic cheap CD based DJ equipment for my house
(just to throw my own house parties). I have a few questions on what the
terms mean. I have no knowledge of DJ terms so please be as "english" as
possible.

-What does Fader "Q" Start with Fader Q on/off switches do? Quick start of
CD?
-What does feature 8-time oversampling do?
-What does pitch bend (±8%, ±12% or ±16%) do? Speed up/slow sound?

The package I am looking at

Thanks

Re: Simple newbie questions

Over sampling is how many times the system reads ahead -Kinda.. Basically,
it helps the whole anti shock process.

The on/off fader feature will be a remote way of starting the next track by
using the cross fader rather than the play button most likely, I have not
been a big user of American DJ gear.

Yes pitch bend speeds up and slows down the track.

The fader q, along with the on/off have to do with crossfader auto
start... When you bring the crossfader in it starts the CD
basically...

The 8 times over sample I'm guessing is anti skipping maybe? Or maybe
it has a loop option in the cd players...

Pitch bend is what you use to match beats... speed up or slow down the
song so the song are the same speed.

Hope this helps....

peace

Fader Q starts the cd when you start moving the crossfader -- I
personally don't like the feature, but who says you have to use it?

Reduces artifacts in the d/a conversion. This one is a bit tougher to
wrap your head around, but just about every cd player on earth does this
these days, so it's not a big deal.

The pitch adjustment will speed up/slow down *and* raise/lower the pitch
of the music at the same time.
