str8 100 -> s/pdif -> Digi002
I'm trying to record vinyl records. I'm using a Stanton Str8 100
turntable, which has a digital output via S/PDIF. I then connect this to the S/PDIF input on my (brand new) Digidesign Digi002. Turntable (Str8-100) -> s/pdif -> Digi002 Finally, I'm using Protools to record. On older records, this setup runs like a dream. With newer records (much hotter signal), the meter in Protools is clipping! How can this be? In fact, without even touching the needle to the vinyl I get a solid signal at -33.8 dB Since we're talking about a digital signal here, does that imply that the signal is clipping at the record player?
