The point

With all the software, and technology, is there any point in spending BIG
money on a set of turntables and starting to learn how to mix, when you can
download Traktor and just push the SYNC button and it sounds good instantly.
Anybody can sit behind a PC at a party and people will love him. Please say
I'm wrong. I want to buy those turntables, and learn to mix, knowing that
there is a good reason why I got the turntables rather than Traktor.

Re: The point

Because no other DJ will take you seriously until you can mix properly on
either vinyl or CD and as most of us here know the only was to get work is
word of mouth through other DJ's.

Get the tables, and practice practice practice... once you get it,
you'll see the why you should get the tables... There's nothing that
can compare to being in the club mixing records..

Re: The point

i couldnt have said it better myself. when i was considering starting i was
in a similar situation but i was making the choice between Vinyl and CD's.
i posted the question to various newsgroups and got a very mixed response.
in the end i chose tables and vinyl. this was the most expensive with the
biggest effoert required to mix. however the rewards are a 100 times more
rewarding than playing Cd's or using a computer. there is total passion
that you get and it translates to the crowd you are playing to. there is
nothing like the feeling you get when you pull of wicked mix on tables with
out the help of any electronic aids.
good luck in your choice for the future ...... ps tables & vinyl tables &
vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables &
vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables &
vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl tables & vinyl ;-)

Re: The point

It's like buying a calculator and saying your Math wizard. Learning how to
mix teaches you how you get that sound and how and why you got it!
