Two Questions for PCDJ users, or other Laptop guys

Hello,

I have a predicament that hopefully a technically savvy DJ will be able to
solve for me.

Problem 1:

I am using PCDJ as my setup on a laptop, with an Edirol UA-1A external sound
device (1 dual RCA input, and 1 dual RCA output). I am using option 6 in
PCDJ (I think) for hardware configuration, the one that allows player A to
come out sound card 1 (Edirol), and player B to come out sound card 2 (on
board), so that I plug each into a different line in on my mixer allowing me
to use my crossfader and volume controls on two channels. The problem is,
the mixer only has one microphone input, and needing two I want to try and
use the mic input from my onboard soundcard. So far I can get the microphone
to work, but sending the audio directly to the computer. But I can't get the
audio coming in that microphone to come out to my mixer. Any suggestions?

Problem 2:

I often use Soundforge to record parts of my gigs, including toasts,
speeches, and specific songs. Using the Edirol UA-1A's inputs I am splitting
the output from my Amp out on the mixer to go to the amp, and the inputs on
the UA-1A. I can't seem to get SoundForge to recognize the audio coming in
whilst I am using PCDJ, or otherwise. This also brings me back to the
problem of not being able to use my Mic input on my laptop to go out to the
mixer.

I am in the market for a two mic input, 2-3 channel mixer if anyone knows a
good one. See my post regarding this issue.

Thank you so much for any and all replies.

Tim A.

Open up your audio properties/mixer applet and make sure mute is unchecked
on the mic and line in channels. If you don't see those channels you can
make them visible by selecting Options > Properties then checking the
relevant boxes.

what have you got in the record mixer? u need some sort of stereo mix,
instead of wave/mp3. on sb audigy it's called 'what u hear' - don't know if
you'll have something similar on yours....

Re: Two Questions for PCDJ users, or other Laptop guys

as far as i know, you can only get output from the Edirol if the mic is
plugged into that. the mixers are NOT chained in windows and thus if the mic
is plugged into the built in soundcard, that's the only place it'll come out
of.

if i read that post wrong lemme know.
