I'm looking to get a new mixer, and considered the PCV-002, but I found a few things I don't like. a) Metering is too basic (not enough LED's) b) no crossfade adjust or hamster switch c) no killswitches You might want to consider the Ecler SMAC PRO20. It's about 60GBP more, and still doesn't have a crossfade adjust or hamster switch, but it does have decent metering and killswitches, as well as a basic 3rd input and a VCA crossfader. Or the Numark DM3002X, which is about the same price as the Ecler and has good kills and metering, but I don't like the orientation of the input toggles and I've heard the crossfader isn't very good (starts to crackle soon, but this can apparently be dealt with by cleaning it regularly). Just want to point out I haven't had any experience with any of these mixers, they just seem like fairly decent, cheapish options that I identified whilst searching. Doughboy |

Re: vestax pcv-002
Hi Dough, Thanks for the input, appreciate it! I was eyeing the DM3002X at first too, great features, but heard too much nagetive comment about the build / sound quality and the rather short fader life. Behringer at this price range also offer all the bells and whistles, but fader are not replaceable, EQ / filter is not as accurate. Am considering the PCV-002 because it is possible to replace or upgrade the crossfader to those used in the 275. Is the number of metering LEDs that important? because i've seen highend mixer that only comes with ONE LED to indicate if the signal is overload, pls enlighten me if there are other benefits of having detail metering indicator? Agreed that no cross fader adjust is no good if i realize only later that im actually a scratch pervert. I can live with those rotary kill switch for the moment, but i really need accurate THREE band EQ / filter to properly take out certain range of frequency totally to practice on some seamless mixing trick. Ecler is a good brand, but not very popular here in Singapore, maybe i should try to find some store that selling and get my hands on it just to check things out... Thanks again for your opinion bro. Re: vestax pcv-002
Hey C
The reason I think more LEDs might help is so that you can get the level of the record you're bringing in roughly the same as the one that's already playing. I guess, depending on the headphone facilities on the mixer (split-cue) you might be able to do this without using the LED's, but on my current mixer (Vestax PMC 05A), I find the headphone facilities and the LED's inadequate. Another mixer you could look out for is the Numark SM-1. These used to cost quite a lot, but there's one place in the UK I've seen them for 149GBP, so you might find one cheap. This has a much better, optical, crossfader than some Numark mixers, as well as good LED's, crossfader curve adjust and hamster. On the downside, although it has 3 band EQ, these only have 30db cut, whereas to completely kill a band you want 80db cut. It can be hard to find a mixer with exactly the features you want, so you could look for a mixer that has everything EXCEPT decent kills, and then buy a seperate kill switch unit, like the Stanton Next Cut 3.
