What type of speakers to by

Hello:

I am going to be playing a few weddings this summer, and need help choosing
a set of speakers/amp.
So far, I found a decently priced system (the B52 matrix) 2 10" satellites,
and a 15" sub... This system
is selling for 1300 - and is by far the cheapest for the money (by a few
$100). oh, and its 700w total.

My question is, should I spend the extra money on 15's? - or will the 10s
and a sub work well together?
I will be doing weddings of up to 350 people - will this be powerful enough?

Thank you everyone in advance
ST

700 w should be powerful enough for weddings..
never heard of those speakers though, see if you can rent the system
first before buying it

I've heard good things about the B52 system- they've improved their quality
quite a bit. That system should be OK for wedding crowds.

My problem with using a single 15" sub is that if it fails on you, you're
limited to getting by with just the 10" satellites (maybe not even that, if the
sub is powering the satellites).

I would also consider a pair of 15" powered speakers though. For about the
same price, you should be able to pick up a pair of the ElectroVoice sXa250's.
By using two 15" powered speakers, if one fails, you'll still have a decent
amount of sound from the other one.

Is that the system where the amps are all built into the sub cabinet?
A friend of mine was looking at that system. We heard it in the store
and I didn't like the sound quality at all. The sub is good, but
other than that the system sounded pretty bad.. the mid-bass just kind
of honked out, it sounded like cheap car stereo played a little too
loud. The high end was decent but not great. Granted we were playing
electronic dance music through it, not the kind of thing you would
play at a wedding. But I didn't like the sound. If you've heard them
already and like them, then please ignore me.. everyone has different
taste

The other thing is the price. $1300 Canadian right? Which is around
$1000 US. Guitar Center was offering the system for $700 US. So you
can probably do better on it if you look around.

I agree with Bobster on the EV (Electro-Voice), I have a pair of
Eliminator I's and a QSC amp and I really like the setup. It sounds
good, and it sounds good loud. Plenty of bass for a wedding. It
might be a little out of your price range though (around
$1300-1400US). I've heard the EV Force series, they're a little
cheaper, sound about as good, less power handling but should be plenty
for a wedding. I really think that in the lower end of the price
range EV has the best sounding stuff. I looked at a lot of stuff
before I got mine.
