Which sequencer should I get?
I am looking for a new Sequencer for my PC that doesn't cost too much
but is capable of doing real-time time-stretching (RTTS). What should I go for? I will have about £250 to spend. At the moment I have Cubasis VST 3 which didn't cost very much, only about £100 if I remember rightly. Unfortunately it isn't very good for me as it doesn't do the RTTS that I need. So when I am composing a track in the program and I need to change the speed of it or stretch just one track, it makes a mess of it and it all gets out of sequence to the rest of the composition. I guess I am after something that is easy to use and gives you a decent amount of audio and midi tracks. I am not bothered about staying with a Steinberg product I will consider anything that is good and does what I want. I have been looking on the Steinberg website though at the products currently available. I'm not sure what the difference is between the SL and the SX version of Cubase? One the site it says one has 50 new features whereas the other has 70. It doesn't seem to list what they are or has comparison functionality on the site. I think perhaps something like the SL version would do for me. Perhaps I wouldn't need any advanced features of the premium product? I do know though that the SE version would probably be similar to what I've got already so would want to avoid that. If anyone can recommend me any good sequencers to consider besides the Cubase range I'd appreciate it. If you can also tell me the difference between SL and SX versions of Cubase I'd be interested to know that as well. A lot of people seem to recommend Cubase SX or Ableton Live. I wouldn't be able to afford the SX version of Cubase though as its £500, but would be able to afford Cubase SL or Ableton Live v5. What would you go for between these two? I think they are just below £250 in price these. And I just wondered if anybody would recommend anything else like Acid Pro 6, Sonar 4, Reason or any of the Logic products? Cheers John |
